PAS Wine Tasting–a Great Idea at the End of February
From University Relations:
Whether you are a first time wine taster (don’t worry about that “blanc” look on your face) or a seasoned wine connoisseur, the Performing Arts Society’s (PAS) 13th Annual Wine Tasting will offer something for everyone.
The event, which will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. in the University Union Heritage Room on the Western Illinois University Macomb campus, will feature an evening of music from the President’s String Quartet, the sampling of more than 60 wines, an array of appetizers and a wine-themed silent auction.
According to Mick Cumbie, College of Fine Arts and Communication development director, the wine tasting will feature wines from California, Oregon, Illinois, France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Chile. Varieties include classic reds, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Shiraz, Chardonnay, light whites, fruit-forward whites and dessert wines. Wines prices vary from $10 to more than $100 per bottle. Wine featured at the event may be ordered on site for delivery within one week to the event’s participating distributors, Hy-Vee Liquors and West Pierce Liquors. The wine program is available at wiu.edu/pas.
Reservations, which are due by Friday, Feb. 17, are $38. A non-alcoholic reservation is $20. For tickets, call the College of Fine Arts and Communication at (309) 298-1618. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Black tie is optional, and valet parking will be available at the Union’s Murray Street entrance.
The PAS Wine Tasting is sponsored by Citizens Bank, Macomb, a division of Morton Community Bank.
