Hosted a TV talk show while in high school. Then worked as an announcer , cameraman, and newscaster at WQAD and WHBF in the Quad-Cities.

Worked in radio news at WHBF and WVIK in the Quad-Cities and at WOSU, Columbus, OH, KOSU, Stillwater, OK, and KXXO, Tulsa, OK.

Served as WIU director of extension prior to joining the Broadcasting Department.

Also previously served as general manager of WIUM-FM and manager of University Television.
