Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is a highly select group of 53 elite musicians comprised of graduate and undergraduate students. Under the baton of Dr. Mike Fansler, the ensemble has been chosen to perform at numerous regional, national, and international venues including the Illinois All-State Convention, the College Band Directors National Association, on Armour Stage in Chicago's Orchestra Hall, and on tour in Salvador and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The literature performed represents the finest in wind band literature from all historical periods. The ensemble has recorded 5 CD's in the past years, examples of which are available on this site. For over three decades, the wind ensemble has presented a special "President's Concert" performance to honor the President of Western Illinois University. The ensemble tours throughout Illinois and at selected Midwestern regions each year performing for numerous high schools and communities, and plans an international tour every four years (Brazil, 2014).
