JOHN C. ROBERTS SCHOLARSHIP IN TEACHER EDUCATION

HISTORY:

The John C. Roberts Scholarship Fund was established in 1971 by Professor John C. Roberts. Roberts was director of teacher training and placement, and later professor and chair of the educational foundations department at Western. After his death May 30, 1972, the scholarship became a memorial in his honor. Roberts was founder and/or officer of several educational and professional organizations. He was very active in civic affairs, and his writings have been published in several professional journals. This scholarship is offered to an outstanding senior in the teacher education program showing great promise as a teacher and is also active in his/her community.

CRITERIA:

Applicants must be at the Senior class level at the time of award with at least one semester remaining before graduation

Show promise as an outstanding teacher

Be enrolled in a teacher education program

Demonstrate contributions to the academic and non-academic university community


AWARD AMOUNT
: Award amount varies based on annual interest earned on endowment.


SELECTION PROCESS:

Final selection will be made by the Office of Teacher Education Scholarship Committee.
