Why you decided to go on ECOEE:
When I first came to Western Illinois University I was a Law Enforcement major - this is because I had to choose a line of work I wanted to pursue and nothing else really appealed to me so I decided to settle with it. After my first two years at Western a friend of mine told me about Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration (RPTA) and it sounded too good to be true but I wanted to check it out. After researching for a bit I realized that this major was right down my alley, this was a major that I could actually get excited about and a line of work that I had no doubt that I would enjoy. After declaring RPTA as my new major and moving Law Enforcement to my minor I had to figure out what area of RPTA I wanted to focus on and Adventure Recreation definitely stood out to me among the others. ECOEE is a field-studies program that perfectly designed to compliment my focus of Adventure Recreation perfectly. I am a firm believer that hands-on experience is the best way to learn anything in life, and according to the "About ECOEE" section on it's website, ECOEE "supports professional preparation in outdoor leadership through experiential education". I can't wait to see what ECOEE has in store for me and I am hoping to come back with as much knowledge and hands-on experience out of it as I possibly can.
