Growing up in Chicago’s urban area there were a minimal amount of opportunities to experience nature’s exclusive natural beauty; whereas playing sports such as baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and partaking in other activities and field trips through the Chicago Park District was where the majority of my time was spent. Attending Western Illinois University and living in Macomb has re-energized my passionate love and interest in nature; from taking woods walks to going to local state parks I fell into an overwhelming elation of the natural world. I decided to go on this ECOEE expedition after hearing about it from an alumnus. I’m excited to connect with the natural world in a personal and spiritual sense that includes self-discovery, learning forms of discipline, as well as further developing my problem solving and leadership skills within group settings. I am interested in learning the survival skills and other natural environmental knowledge surrounding the experience of a 120-day natural expedition. All in all I attempt to live a life of compassion, and this includes my compassion for nature.
