Becoming an RPTA Match Advocate

The RPTA department has received an anonymous match gift for up to $100,000 in celebration of RPTA’s 50th Anniversary. Every dollar raised between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018, up to $100,000, will be matched by the $100,000 donation. RPTA has the opportunity to raise more than $200,000 this year to benefit current and future RPTA students!

The department will be using some of the money for scholarships that will allow us to compete in recruiting talented students, professional development opportunities to enable our students to position themselves better professionally, and a new van to facilitate fieldwork and experiential learning activities. These aren't the only options...donors can designate how they want their gifts to be used.

One of the easiest ways to help us reach our goal is by serving as an advocate and sharing our information with your contacts. Advocates are responsible for about 20% of the money raised by campaigns like ours, so we certainly hope you’ll help us. For our alumni and friends, this means helping us reconnect with those who may have forgotten to keep us updated when they moved. For current students, this means helping us reach out to classmates so that everyone is aware of the great things going on in our department.

Becoming an advocate will take less than 10 minutes of your time and will allow the RPTA Department to spread its success stories to far more people than we’re able to on our own.

Step #1

Step #2

Enter WIU RPTA in the search bar found in the top right corner of the page. Then hit ‘enter’ or click on the magnifying glass to be taken to our page. At this point, the RPTA 50th Anniversary Match should appear. Click on the RPTA 50th Anniversary Mark and you’ll be taken to our main page.

Step #3

Scroll to the bottom and click where it says Advocates

Step #4

Click where it says Sign up or Log In and you’ll be taken to the screen where you can become an advocate. On the sign-up screen, you can either sign up using your Facebook login information or an email.

Step #5

Once you’ve created an account, you’re ready to become an advocate. Every advocate will receive a unique code they can share with their network. You can share our page by clicking on the Facebook or Twitter icons, through text, and by sending emails. All you have to do is include the unique code you get when you click one of the options.

Step #6

You can challenge your friends and make matching gifts by clicking the buttons and using the unique codes you receive. Matching gifts allow you to set conditions. For example, maybe you would be willing to match $10 per donor up to $200 for five days.

You can also use this page to upload a personal plea. Maybe you have an RPTA experience that you feel should be shared with others. You can record a video…landscape mode is preferred…upload it, and share it with your contacts using the unique code you’ve provided.

Even if you decide to not be an advocate, we hope you take part in our 50th Anniversary celebrations. For more information about the Match Challenge and our 50th Anniversary celebrations, please visit our RPTA webpage at
