RPTA-QC Accelerated Degree Track - Black Hawk College

Accelerate Your Degree Plans

Complete your education faster, and start your career sooner. The Western Illinois University Department of Recreation, Park & Tourism Administration (RPTA) in the Quad Cities offers a unique program for Black Hawk College students so that you can attain your associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in as little as three years. The RPTA-QC Accelerated Degree Track prepares you for professional careers in the human services field in a minimal amount of time. You can graduate up to one year sooner than you would following a traditional curriculum path. You can transfer into the RPTA-QC Accelerated Degree Track while still at Black Hawk College or after you have completed your associate’s degree. The Accelerated RPTA-QC major is paired with the Accelerated American Humanics minor to ensure the timely completion of your degree program.

The RPTA-QC Accelerated Major

An RPTA bachelor’s degree can lead to careers at municipal parks and recreation departments, YMCAs, convention and visitors bureaus, multi-purpose arenas, professional sports organizations, resorts, special events agencies, museums, national parks, nonprofit agencies, and more. The RPTA curriculum provides you with the opportunity for hands-on learning through classroom service projects, fieldwork experiences, and a formal 480-hour internship experience.

Non-Profit Administration Minor

The Non-Profit Administration minor makes it possible for you to become a certified professional in nonprofit leadership by completing coursework and service-learning opportunities in program planning, program administration, lifespan development, volunteer management, financing, marketing, fund raising, and public relations. Nonprofit youth and human service organizations play pivotal roles in helping people of all ages and backgrounds develop their capacities to live quality lives.

Cost Guarantee

In addition to guaranteed graduation in four years or less, Western will freeze your tuition and fees for all WIU courses for the length of the RPTA-QC program. To maintain the tuition and fees freeze, you will need to be continuously enrolled. This cost guarantee applies to all new students, full- and part-time.

Financial Aid

Concerned about college costs? Financial aid is available in the form of grants, loans, work-study, and a wide range of scholarship opportunities. Students wishing to apply for federal or state financial aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at FAFSA.ed.gov.
