LTC Richard D. Helling is from Galesburg IL. He enlisted in the Army in June 1992.  Upon completion of his enlistment, LTC Helling attended Western Illinois University from which he graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a commission in the United States Army Transportation Corps.  In addition, LTC Helling is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College and holds a Master of Science in Education from Kansas State University.

LTC Helling’s tours of duties include Fort Eustis, Virginia; Bosnia Herzegovina; Camp Darby, Italy; Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Shafter, Hawaii; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  In addition, LTC Helling completed three combat tours in Iraq where he served in Mosul, Baghdad and Baqubah. 

LTC Richard Helling’s military awards and decorations include three Bronze Stars, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal and the Army Staff Badge.
