1LT Dunsworth enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard in the fall of 2006. He completed Basic Training at FT Sill, OK and Advanced Individual Training also at FT Sill, OK.  He then served with the 2/123rd Field Artillery Battery from May 2007 to August 2009.

He subsequently earned his commission through the Illinois Army National Guard State Officer Candidate School program.  Upon completing the Basic Officer Leaders Courses at FT Sill, OK he returned to the 2/123rd Field Artillery Battery where he served as a Platoon Leader during a deployment to Sinai, Egypt for the Multinational Force Observers Mission #54.

1LT Dunsworth graduated Cum Laude from Western Illinois University in December 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art.

1LT Dunsworth’s awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Training Ribbon, the Multinational Force Observers Ribbon, and the Military Attendance Ribbon.

In August 2011, he joined the ROTC program as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at Western Illinois University.

1LT Dunsworth and his wife Cyndee have two daughters.
