Cheryl Hutchins received her Masters of Science Education and her Bachelors of Arts degrees from Western Illinois University and is a proud WIU Alumnus. Cheryl received her Masters degree in Counselor Education and also became a National Certified Counselor in 2009.

Cheryl has been at Western since 1995, working in Special Education and Teacher Certification while she completed her degrees. She has been the Academic Advisor for the Dietetics, Fashion Merchandising, and Hospitality (DFMH) department since August 2010.

In 2013 Cheryl was awarded Academic Advisor of the Year after being nominated by students and faculty. She says she is very appreciative of this recognition and will continue to assist DFMH students with the resources they need to achieve academic success. In 2014 Cheryl was named the "Outstanding Advising Award–Primary Advising Role Certificate of Merit" recipient by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

Currently Cheryl teaches Introduction to Professionalism, Preparation for Marriage and Family, and University 100 courses.
