4th Annual Horn Field Campus Sustainable Landscapes and Gardens Tour Benefit
Forty people enjoyed sustainable landscape and garden browsing during the Sustainable Landscapes and Gardens Tour which benefited Western Illinois University's Horn Field Campus on July 23. This year's tour included the opportunity to see beautiful local gardens, and showcased the local organic gardening movement and the best of sustainable landscaping techniques.
The gardens of Gordon and Pam Rands; Karen Peitzmeier and Sean Genovese; Alan and Sue DeRoos; and Barefoot Gardens were once again highlighted. Carolyn Bailey shared her backyard for the first time this year, which included a children's garden for all ages. Other new sites included the Community Gardens project at the Prairie View Neighborhood and the garden of Mari Loehrlein, School of Agriculture faculty member who teaches WIU students about sustainable landscaping.
