Amanda Shoemaker

Amanda is the Director of Donor Relations. In this role, she advances the mission of the Western Illinois University Foundation through a combination of communications, donor stewardship, and recognition programs that positively reinforce the philanthropic intentions of the WIU Foundation benefactors, helping to ensure their continued interest in and affection for Western Illinois University. She also serves as the host of "The Purple Chair," a WIU monthly television show. Amanda began her career at WIU in 2005 as the Assistant Alumni Director and was promoted to Associate Alumni Director in 2009. Prior to her time at Western, she was previously employed at KHQA TV 7 News in Quincy, Illinois as an anchor, producer and reporter. She earned her bachelor degree in Communications/Theatre and Political Science from Illinois College in 2001 and a M.S. degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Western in 2011.

In the community, she volunteers with the Humane Society; is a member of P.E.O., Chapter AL; and serves as a Sigma Phi Epsilon Trustee and on the Alumni Association Board of Directors at Illinois College as well as the Board of Governors for the Illinois Lincoln Excellence in Public Service Series.
