Management and Marketing

Department of Management & Marketing Undergraduate Certificates

Introduction

The department of Management and Marketing will be offering two 15 hour undergraduate certificates in Marketing Technologies and Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) beginning Fall 2014. These have been designed to give students a set of complementary skills working with different types of technologies used in marketing and using those technologies to build integrated marketing communications. These skill sets are crucial to successfully operate and excel in today’s hyper connected offline-online marketing world.

Importance

Teradata’s (a tech company) 2013 data-driven marketing global survey of marketers found that by 2015, a company’s digital marketing strategy will influence 80% of consumer spending and 71% of businesses will implement a marketing analytics solution in the next 2 years. Technology is progressively dominating the latest marketing trends and it is joined at the hip today with marketing, increasingly facilitating marketing strategies (B to B Magazine 2013). This is a reflection of consumers’ use of a mix of traditional offline, new online and mobile media, with growing importance of the latter.

Salient Advantages

  • The certificates will be separately identified on undergraduate transcripts upon degree completion
  • Unique offerings among universities in Illinois
