Steve Rock has published a great deal in the area of the impacts of public policy, such as seat belt laws and child safety seats. A popular teacher, Steve particularly emphasizes in his undergraduate teaching the clear understanding of economic methods in public and business decisionmaking. In the service area, he is in his fourth three year term on Faculty Senate, and is currently the Senate chair. He has also served on a number of other university committees including CAGAS and UPC and has been WIU's representative to the IBHE's Faculty Advisory Committee. He has been on the UPI Executive Board for a number of years and served on a contract negotiating team. During tax season, he volunteers to provide free filing for senior citizens.
