Costs: Student Health Benefits Program

All undergraduate and graduate students carrying nine or more semester hours of non-extension courses during the academic year, or six or more semester hours of non-extension courses during the summer session, will be assessed the student insurance fee. A brochure explaining the coverage of the student health insurance program is available in the Student Health Benefits Office, lower level, Beu Health Center.

The student health insurance fee may be waived if the student provides proof of additional coverage that is equal to or better than the WIU plan. Waiver request forms are available at the Student Health Insurance Office. Completed forms must be received in the office by the tenth day of the semester or during the first six days of the summer term. Students filing approved waiver requests after the tenth day of the semester will have fees waived beginning the next academic session.
