Substance Abuse Counseling Concentration
The Department of Psychology offers a substance abuse counseling concentration and courses that students interested in addiction can take. The substance abuse counseling concentration is open to psychology and other majors too.
The Substance Abuse Counseling Concentration allows interested students to pursue academic coursework in preparation for Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in Illinois and a possible career in the field of addictions. Please explore the certification process through the IAODAPCA website for further information (www.iaodapca.org).
A strength of the substance abuse counseling concentration is unifying themes, skills, and research in addiction and other areas within our psychology department (i.e., clinical psychology, social psychology, forensics, neuroscience).
