Dr. Burdis Andernovics Memorial Scholarship
The intent of the scholarship is to assist undergraduate or graduate students in a nursing program at Western Illinois University. Preference will be given to an incoming freshman or current students pursuing a nursing degree through the School of Nursing and is a resident of the former Industry School District - resident of teh Village of Industry and the surrounding area compromising the Industry School District as it existed at April 17, 1990. Second preference shall be given to a student whose birth certificate is signed by Dr. Andernovics. Third preference shall be given to a graduate of Macomb Senior High School or resident of McDonough County, Illinois. Fourth preference shall be given to a high school graduate in counties surrounding McDonough County. Fifth preference will be given to a student of Latvian descent.

The amount of the award is $1000 annually applied to students account $500.00 in the fall and $500.00 in the spring semester.
Recipients will be selected by the Nursing Scholarship Committee in the School of Nursing.
Financial need, academic performance, and participation in extracurricular activities may be considered. The amount of any scholarship awarded to any student shall be within the discretion of the WIU Foundation, taking into consideration the availability of funds and the total number of deserving and qualified applicants.

Recipients may reapply for the scholarship; it is not automatically renewable.
