Update: Union, Community Cooling Centers

MACOMB, IL -- The University Union Prairie Lounge on the Western Illinois University Macomb campus has been designated as a cooling center for area residents through Saturday, July 23. Sodexo Campus Services has provided complimentary water, and individuals are welcome to watch television in the Murray Street Cafe.

The University Union is open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday.

Other cooling centers open in Macomb include The McDonough County Red Cross, 1224 Maple Ave. (7:30 a.m.-5 p.m., through Friday) and the Salvation Army, 505 N. Randolph St.,(9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m., through Friday).

In addition, the City Hall Community Room, located on the first floor of City Hall, 232 E. Jackson St., will be open as a cooling center from 5-10 p.m. daily through Friday, July 22.
