Dworkin named chairperson of psychology at Western Illinois University

MACOMB, ILL. – A senior member of the Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, Ala.) has been appointed as chairperson of the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Illinois University. Dr. Steve Dworkin, professor and former head of JSU’s psychology department officially assumed his new position at WIU on January 12.
Dworkin, a Baltimore native, earned his baccalaureate degree at the University of Maryland. He earned both Master of Science and doctoral degrees at the University of Florida. He had held posts at Louisiana State University, Wake Forest University’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Duke University, and Med-Associates, Inc.
“I am pleased to welcome Steve to our community,” said College of Arts and Sciences Dean Inessa Levi. He brings with him a vast amount of administrative ability and expertise in behavior, pharmacology, and substance abuse studies. Steve will play an integral role in forming our Center for Education and Research on Substance abuse, which is a priority goal for the college both in terms of academics and the current capital campaign.”
