LASGO’s main goal is to promote interest in the study of liberal arts and sciences (LAS) among students, faculty, and the community at large. The organization also provides fellowship among LAS students, faculty, and administrators. LASGO serves as a voice to LAS students in regard to choices and initiatives relates to the Western Illinois University LAS programs. In addition, the organization has the specific aim of providing support for students navigating the Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences (BLAS) and Master of Liberal Arts and Sciences (MLAS) programs and their interdisciplinary opportunities.
Activities in recent semesters have included collaborating with other student organizations, professional development opportunities, dinner and play nights, and end-of-the-semester dinner celebrations. In previous semesters, LASGO meetings have been held the first Tuesday of the month at noon.
LASGO is open to all students of the LAS programs—both graduate and undergraduate students. If you are interested in learning more about LASGO, please contact us or stop by at one of our meetings. Getting involved with LASGO is a good opportunity to learn more about your field of study and meeting and connecting with other LAS students and faculty.
