Dr. Lee Brice, Faculty Advisor for the WIU History Department's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honorary society, announced today the names of the first two co-editors of the chapter's new on-line journal, the Western Illinois Historical Review. Phi Alpha Theta members and History seniors Adam Bednar and Shane Leadbetter will serve as the initial co-editors of the journal for Fall 2008.
Adam Bednar, a senior History Teacher Education major from La Grange Park and senior Shane Leadbetter, a double major in History and Law Enforcement & Justice Administration from Montgomery, were selected by the journal's Editorial Board from a distinguished pool of applicants. The Editorial Board includes Phi Alpha Theta adivsor Dr. Brice; past Phi Alpha Theta chapter President Alex Heuer, a senior from Swansea; current chapter President Amy Kallenbach, a senior from Mt. Sterling; and Dr. Ginny Boynton, History Department Chair. Dr. Boynton commented that "Adam and Shane are both outstanding History majors who will do a fine job as the initial co-editors of this exciting new journal of student research. The members of the Editorial Board look forward to working with them on this new venture."
