Irene Herold, WIU History Alum, Appointed to National Project on Gender Equality

Irene Herold, a 2004 History M.A. graduate from WIU and Dean of Mason Library at Keene State College in New Hampshire, has been selected as one of New Hampshire's two delegates for the "Vision 2020: An American Conversation about Women and Leadership" program. Herold, a Simmons College Ph.D. candidate in Managerial Leadership in the Information Professions, will be one of 102 delegates (two from each state and the District of Columbia) participating in this national project focused on advancing gender equality in the United States by 2020, the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

According to the attached press release from Drexel University College of Medicine, the organizer of this natioanl project, "In 2010, Vision 2020 will develop and launch its decade-long action agenda to move America toward equality by inspiring and engaging new generations of women and men to finish the work of the suffragists, who pursued women's right to vote as fundamental to social and economic justice."
