Dr. Hall Guest Edits Issue of Illinois History Teacher

Apr 28, 2009

Dr. Greg Hall, Associate Professor of History, guest edited and wrote the Introduction for the "Illinois as the West" issue of Illinois History Teacher, which is published by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency of the State of Illinois and distributed to all history and social studies teachers in the state. Dr. Hall has published a number of articles and a book on the history of workers in the American West, and he teaches courses on the History of the West and on Illinois History for WIU's Department of History.

As Guest Editor for this issue, the second one published in 2009, Dr. Hall invited faculty experts to submit scholarly articles on related topics and selected and edited four articles for the issue, written by Dr. Virginia Jelatis (Associate Professor of History at WIU; see related article in blue box in upper right), Dr. James Davis (Professor of History and Geography at Illinois College), Dr. Ellen Nore Nordhauser (Professor Emeritus of Historical Studies at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville), and Juliet E.K. Walker (Director of the Center of Black History, Entrepreneurship, and Technology at the University of Texas at Austin). Each article was accompanied by curricular materials, which were developed by Dr. Mark Newman (Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at National College of Education, National-Louis University), Richard Carlson (Illinois State Board of Education), Kevin J. Suess (Normal Community High School in Normal, Illinois), and Tamara Douglass (Springfield Southeast High School, Springfield, Illinois).
