Dan Mieszala and Abby Lagemann Present Papers at Purdue Conference

Two undergraduate History majors, Abby Lagemann and Daniel Mieszala, represented WIU at the 17th Annual Clement S. Stacy Undergraduate Research Conference, held at Purdue University-Calumet in Hammond, Indiana on April 4. Extended versions of their conference presentations will be published in the Conference Proceedings.
Abby Lagemann, a senior History Teacher Certification major from Pittsfield, made a presentation on her undergraduate honors thesis research entitled, "'Between Her Highness and You': Justices of the Peace in Early Modern England."
Dan Mieszala, a junior History major from Lockport, presented his research on "Policies Toward Catholics in Early Elizabethan England: 1558-1587."
Both Mr. Mieszala and Ms. Lagemann received Norman & Carmelita Teeter Research Grants and History Department Undergraduate Research Awards to support their presentations at the conference. Ms. Lagemann, who is the President of WIU's Associated Students of History (ASH), and Mr. Mieszala, who is the Vice President of ASH, were mentored on this project by Dr. Jennifer McNabb.
