GEOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS

Ruth Russell Memorial Scholarship in Geography

This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding junior or senior student majoring in geography. Online application .

Criteria . Applications for this scholarship must:

• be a declared Geography major
• have completed 60 or more semester hours of college-level work
• have the classification of junior or senior
• have completed a minimum of 9 semester hours of course work in the Department of Geography
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Be enrolled full-time (12 or more semester hours)
• submit at least one letter of recommendation in support of application

Applications

• applications are available from the Geography Department (Tillman 313) or the Scholarship Office (Sherman 308)

Award

• One $1000 award (annual)

Deadline

• Applications are due April 2

Selection Process

• A scholarship committee composed of faculty members in the Department of Geography will select the recipient.

Criteria for Renewal

• The scholarship can be renewed for a second year if the recipient maintains a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA and remains enrolled full-time as a Geography major.
