- May 8: Congratulations to Marjorie Allison, Tim Helwig, and Christy Wherley, all winners of UHDS Honoring our Professors for Excellence awards.
- May 7: Editor Lisa Barr is happy to announce the launch of the new web site for Communications and the Law, and three calls for papers for upcoming issues.
- Apr 29: Eighteen E&J students participated in Undergraduate Research Day.
- Apr 24: The winners of 2009 awards and scholarships have been announced.
- Apr 20: Mohammad Siddiqi will assume the position of interim chair on July 1 while the department continues its Chair Search.

- Apr 15: In a Western Courier University-wide survey, Bill Knight was voted Best Professor at Western.
- Apr 10: Current and former journalism students recognized by the Illinois College Press Association.
