Barbara earned her M.F.A. in fiction writing from Purdue University. She teaches composition and creative writing.

Barbara's work has previously appeared in the Sycamore Review, issues of Another Chicago Magazine, Buffalo Carp, Friends Journal, In Quire,  issues of Bird's Thumb, Prairie Gold: Anthology of the American Heartland, Requited Journal, Festival Writer, Red Wolf Journal, Catch & Release, The Lake,  bioStories Magazine, The Riveter Review, Hermeneutic Chaos Literary Journal, and Mud Season Review. It is forthcoming in i70 Review, Sugared Water, Per Contra, Pea River Journal,  Emerge Literary Journal, San Gabriel Valley Poetry Quarterly, Sediments Literary-Arts Journal, The Rusty Toque, Lunch Ticket, Black Sun Lit, Kudzu House Quarterly, Slipstream, and New Madrid: Journal of Contemporary Literature.

Her favorite creative endeavors are her awesome kids, Annaleigh and Jack.

Beyond writing and teaching, her interests include literacy activism, running, gardening, cooking, and walking her beloved dog, Banjo.
