Barbara earned her M.F.A. in fiction writing from Purdue University. She teaches composition and creative writing.
Barbara's work has previously appeared in the Sycamore Review, issues of Another Chicago Magazine, Buffalo Carp, Friends Journal, In Quire, issues of Bird's Thumb, Prairie Gold: Anthology of the American Heartland, Requited Journal, Festival Writer, Red Wolf Journal, Catch & Release, The Lake, bioStories Magazine, The Riveter Review, Hermeneutic Chaos Literary Journal, i70 Review, Mud Season Review, Pea River Journal, and Sediments Literary-Arts Journal. It is forthcoming in Sugared Water, Per Contra, Emerge Literary Journal, San Gabriel Valley Poetry Quarterly, The Rusty Toque, Lunch Ticket, Black Sun Lit, Kudzu House Quarterly, Slipstream, New Madrid: Journal of Contemporary Literature, Circus Book, freeze frame fiction, Fiction Southeast, and The Sonder Review. Her short story "Blink" was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Her favorite creative endeavors are her awesome kids, Annaleigh and Jack.
Beyond writing and teaching, her interests include literacy activism, running, gardening, cooking, and walking her beloved dog, Banjo.
