Minority Internship Program (Five University Consortium)

The Minority Internship Program (MIP) is a one semester, paid internship sponsored by the Illinois Board of Higher Education that allows full-time junior, senior, and graduate minority students to combine work and learning experience.

MIP is an opportunity for selected students to observe and participate in the practical aspects of public policy-making in a variety of off-campus settings. One of the unique aspects of this program is the opportunity for students to engage in internship experiences in a variety of fields:

  • State & Local Government
  • Business
  • Human Services
  • Health
  • Law
  • Communications
  • Environment
  • Consumer Affairs

Participants have the opportunity to interact with real decision-makers in their respective fields. Such opportunities enhance a student's understanding of actual policy-making processes. Students also get the chance to network and develop mentorship while developing personal interests and career opportunities. Learn more... Internship Frequently Asked Questions.
