2018 Natural Sciences Research Symposium

The Natural Sciences Research Symposium is a venue for undergraduate and graduate students to present their research in the Natural Sciences Departments (including Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geology, and Physics) at Western Illinois University. Biology and Chemistry Graduate students can present exit seminars as oral presentations. All graduate and undergraduate students from Natural Sciences departments conducting research are welcome to present posters. 

All graduate and undergraduate students involved in research are expected to participate.

Abstract Submission


The best oral and poster presentations will be recognized at the award ceremony with a certificate.  The best undergraduate posters will be nominated by each department to compete for the best overall poster at the Thomas E. Helm Undergraduate Research Day.

Evaluation: Judges will evaluate oral presentations and posters based on the quality of the research (significance, design and conclusions) and the clarity of presentation. An effort will be made to have at least two judges for each oral and poster presentation.
