The political science department mourns Dr. Phyllis Farley Rippey, who passed away April 17th. Professor Rippey specialized in constitutional law, the U.S. Court system, and religion and politics. Her classes helped many students succeed in law school, and many others became political science majors because of her teaching in general education classes. She loved politics and debate, and was an energetic, passionate mentor and leader in the department. She also served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, where she helped shape a generation of faculty. Services for Dr. Rippey will be held Saturday, April 27th, at the Western Illinois Multicultural Center at 10:00 am.
