Student Alumni Association Invites You to Grad Blast 2009
You are invited to join the Student Alumni Association (SAA) on April 30, 2009 for Grad Blast. Grad Blast is an annual event held in the spring semester in honor of the seniors graduating in May, August, and December of that year. The SAA is throwing this annual, can’t-miss-event at The Forum in Macomb. Enjoy delicious appetizers while you meet the newest members of the Alumni Association!
The SAA would love to see many alumni in attendance at this great event. Alumni play a pivotal role for the graduating class. Share your experiences about life after college, build new friendships or just have a blast at this great event.
Mark your calendars for April 30 at 6:00 p.m. at The Forum. The SAA hopes to see you there! 2009 Orientation Team
The Orientation Team (O-Team) is an elite group of 12 student leaders that assist with the Summer Orientation and Registration programs as well as Fall Orientation. Members of the Orientation Team gain a valuable career-enhancing leadership experience while assisting new students and their families in their Western Illinois University transition. O-Team members present and facilitate small group discussions, perform a series of campus life vignettes, serve as a guide and a resource person for incoming students and families, and play an active roll in planning and coordinating Fall Orientation.

On Thursday, February 19, 2009, the Academic Initiatives Committee for University Housing and Dining Services held a 4.0 Ceremony to honor those students living in the residence halls who received a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) for the fall semester. The ceremony took place in the University Union. President Al Goldfarb, Provost Jack Thomas and Tera Monroe '96 MS '98, Director of Residence Life, congratulated these students on their academic and leadership successes. Each student who received a 4.0 was presented with a certificate of recognition and a small gift. In total, there were 322 residents who received a 4.0 GPA and 105 students were able to attend the ceremony.
