Parking Services administers all aspects of the function of parking lot maintenance, replacement, and enforcement, permit issuance, and motorist assistance on campus. Permits may be purchased at Mowbray Hall, the Union Student Assist and Parent Service Center, or online. Permits are required for all persons parking at any location on campus which is non-metered. Any department on campus which is anticipating hosting a conference, workshop, or special event should contact the Parking Services Office at least two weeks prior to the event for coordination of parking lot assignments and special parking permits. The office also provides motorist assistance during normal University hours for unlocks, battery jumps, tire changing, gasoline assistance, etc.

Parking & Traffic Regulations

The regulations for the registration, operation, possession, and use of vehicles by Western Illinois University students, staff, faculty, employees of contracted services, and visitors may be found on the Parking Services web site. The authority to regulate parking is vested in the administration by the Board of Trustees of Western Illinois University.

Persons who own, possess, or operate a vehicle on Western’s campus are responsible for knowing the regulations. Violation of parking regulations may subject an individual to University discipline, including but not limited to repossession of parking permits and/or revocation of parking privileges. Individual cases will be reviewed by the Director of the Office of Public Safety or his/her designee and/or Office of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Retention Initiatives.

Registration of Vehicles - Permits

A parking permit is required in certain lots from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, and at all times (24 hours) in certain lots or spaces as posted. Refer to the Parking Services web site for permit and vehicle registration information, as well as cost of permits.

Parking Lot Enforcement - Fines

Campus parking lots are enforced year round, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, except as noted in the parking regulations on the Parking Services web site. Parking violations and fines may also be found on the web site as well as information for ticket appeals.

Parking & Traffic Committee

The Parking and Traffic Committee is chaired by the Director of Public Safety. Membership consists of students, staff, faculty, and administrative representatives. The committee acts as an advisory body to the President and Vice President for Finance and Administration on matters pertaining to campus parking and traffic. Correspondence may be directed to the committee, c/o Office of Public Safety, Mowbray Hall.

Quad Cities Parking & Shuttle Services

Parking lots are available for faculty, staff and students who purchase a hang tag. Tags may be purchased during regular business hours. Additional Parking Information.

Unlimited Ride Program

WIU has partnered with Metro to provide unlimited access to the entire Metro system with a WIU ID. Simply show the operator your WIU ID each time you board, and that's it - no fare required. New Bike Repair Station

Installed is a new bike repair station under the bridge in the Quad Cities Complex, at the south end of the formal entry from River Drive. The station includes tools, a pump with pressure gauge and the ability to stabilize you bike to make repairs.
