Windows Users

Important Note

  • When undertaking the instructions below, do not attempt to open the folder called "DPS-DropBox".
  • DPS has designed the DPS-DropBox folder, like all such dropboxes, to allow users to drop files into the dropbox without seeing the contents of the dropbox.

Procedure

  • In the Address bar of My Network Places, enter the address "\\dps1.wiu.edu\DPS-FileTransfer".
  • Click the "Go" button on the right of the Address bar.
  • If a dialog appears asking for a user name and password, enter "guest" (without the quotation marks) in the user name field, and leave the password field blank.
  • Inside the DPS-FileTransfer folder that appears, customers will find two folders, "DPS-DropBox" and "DPS-PickUpBox".
    • As a DPS customer, you can only drop files onto the DPS-DropBox folder.
      • You cannot open the DPS-DropBox folder.
      • You cannot see the contents of DPS-DropBox folder.
    • Likewise, customers can pick up files from DPS-PickUpBox but cannot put files into DPS-PickUpBox.

Note to DPS Customers

  • Please notify your DPS contact with file names before or immediately after copying files to the DPS-DropBox.
  • Please delete files from DPS-PickUpBox once they have been copied to your local storage. Thank you.
