Description: Open Access Week is October 21-27, 2013. The Libraries will be hosting a presentation and discussion from 3:30 - 4:30 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in Malpass Library 180. The session will deal with issues related to open access, including Illinois Public Act 98-0295, the Open Access to Research Articles Act.

Illinois Public Act 98-0295 states “published research articles produced by faculty at public universities should be made as widely available as possible.” Each public university in Illinois will have to set up an open access task force to address how to further the open access goals of the law, study how peer institutions are addressing open access issues, and consider other questions related to open access.

Library Dean Michael Lorenzen and Linda Zellmer, Science, Government Information and Data Librarian, will provide an introduction to open access and Public Act 98-0295. All faculty are invited to attend.
