Contract renewal with University of Bayreuth – Germany
The Office of Study Abroad has renewed the contract for bilateral exchange with the University of Bayreuth.

The University
The University of Bayreuth, founded 1975, is one of the youngest universities in Germany. It offers a wide range of courses and degrees in natural sciences, business, law, and cultural sciences in over 20 languages on one campus. Different degrees of all areas are ranked within the best universities all over Germany. Most of the courses are taught in German. There are also courses and degree programs like the Master of Philosophy and Economics available, which are completely taught in English.

The university offers a wide variety of different clubs and leisure activities. Especially the great offering of many different sports clubs all year round is very popular. Students also have the opportunity to join one of the public community sports clubs.
The university is also very popular for the huge international network and the high number of international students from all over the world.

The city and the region
Bayreuth is the largest city in Upper Franconia, located in the north of Bavaria (2h north of Munich). The different sights, museums and broad choice of cultural activities provide students a range of attractions all year round. It also offers a wide range of leisure activities, including a championship golf course, the Lohengrin thermal spa and different small skiing areas. The region is also popular for the wide variety of gastronomic delights as well for the high number of local breweries.
Bayreuth is also the home of the composer Richard Wagner. His operas are frequently performed in the local Festspielhaus and the opera.

Housing
Students who want to study abroad in Bayreuth have the choice to live on or off-campus. All on-campus locations are located in walking distance to the university and city center. Students will have a private apartment or a private bedroom and share the kitchen and the bathroom. All apartments are fully furnished and located in walking distance to grocery stores
