Foundation Scholarships for Incoming Freshman

The Western Illinois University Foundation offers scholarships specifically for entering freshman. These scholarships are based on individual criteria set forth by our scholarship donors. Criteria for each highly competitive scholarship varies based on a variety of factors, including high school Grade Point Average, cumulative ACT score, community service/volunteer activities, and possibly class rank or financial need.

To apply for 2023-24 New Freshman Scholarships, accepted students should sign on to the WIU Scholarship Portal  and complete the General Application. This application will automatically consider you for most new freshmen scholarships and recommend others that require you to answer additional questions. 

DEADLINE: March 1st, 2023.

Students should also review our New Freshman Scholarship Checklist (pdf) for additional recommendations and resources. Scholarship award information will be sent to new freshman applicants at their home address 4-6 weeks after the posted deadline.
