WIU Alumni Honored Through Golden Owl Teaching Competition

MACOMB, IL – The Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers has announced its Golden Owl district teaching awards.

Among the 25 sections in the state, nine Western Illinois University alumni were recognized at the section level and two more have moved on to become the district winner and will competed this summer to be the state winner.

WIU graduates honored include:

Section 1: Cindy Feltmeyer (Eastland) – a 2009 agriculture teacher education graduate
Section 3: Trent Taber (Cambridge) District 1 winner - a 2015 agriculture teacher education graduate
Section 4: Jason Kilburn (Monmouth-Roseville) – a 1994 agriculture teacher education graduate
Section 5: Tarasena Lopeman (Elmwood)
Section 7: Riley Hintzsche (Streator) District 2 winner – a 2014 agriculture teacher education graduate
Section 11: Steve Sargeant (Bushnell-PC) – a 1990 agriculture teacher education graduate
Section 12: Miles Allen (Illini Central) – a 2005 agriculture teacher education graduate
Section 15: John Davin (Staunton) – a 2003 agriculture teacher education graduate
Section 18: Stacey Rickard (Salt Fork)
