Larrance 'Larry' O'Flaherty Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Department of Biological Sciences Chair Emeritus Larrance "Larry" O'Flaherty, of Macomb, passed away Sunday, March 19, at The Elms in Macomb.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a visitation will be held at a later date.
O'Flaherty came to WIU in 1968, and worked in the Department of Biological Sciences as a professor and department chair. He retired in 2001.
In addition to being a phycologist specializing in fresh water algae, and a specialty in bryology, O'Flaherty was also vice president and a founding member of WIU's chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, and he was a member of Sigma XI.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise.
Memorials can be made in his name to the WIU Department of Biological Sciences, to the Newberry Library in Chicago, or to MDH Hospice.
